Petite Maternity Clothes - How to Find Them! |
| At 4’11” and 95 pounds, when I got pregnant with my first child it was almost impossible to find maternity clothes that fit well. So I understand all too well the challenges that petite mothers-to-be face when shopping for petite maternity clothes. At Beautiful You Maternity, we try to keep that in mind when shopping for the store. As most of you have probably figured out by now if you have tried to shop for petite maternity clothes-they are almost non-existent. For the most part, maternity clothes are considered pre-pregnancy size 0-2 with the same length as the average person. Olian Maternity is one designer that offers a true petite length maternity pant and maternity jean with an inseam of 29” (inches). We chose to carry the petite maternity pants in black and khaki and a dark wash denim petite maternity jean to give you several basic options to build a more versatile wardrobe. Also, capris are a great option for petites-they’ll just be a little longer on you! Japanese Weekend has a great ankle maternity pant that is also a great length for petites and can be worn as a regular length trouser depending on your height. However, if you find a pair of maternity pants or maternity skirt that you love and it is not offered in a petite length, don’t hesitate to purchase them and have them hemmed to fit you. My favorite pair of pants was a black, cuffed dress trouser that I had hemmed. They worked great for the office and weddings too! Maternity dresses and maternity shirts were a problem for me too because of my petite frame. I tried to find shorter maternity shirts so I didn’t look like I was playing dress up. Also, the type of fabric made a huge difference in how it fit me. I found jersey to be a great choice for my petite frame. Just like pants, if you find a shirt you love but it is too long for you, hem it! As far as petite maternity dresses go, Pouch offers the “Kicky Dress” in a jersey fabric which is a shorter version of their “Versatile Dress”. This is a great option for petites and can be worn so many ways making it very versatile. But once again, you can always hem a dress if it fits you everywhere but in the length. You don’t have to give up on style during your pregnancy if you are petite. You just might have to work a little harder at it, but Beautiful You Maternity can help make finding petite maternity clothing a little easier.
